NARCOTICS ARREST - 1000 BLK OF W. MARKET ST.
2/26/2014 - 9:24:00 PM

On February 25, 2014 @ 9:24 PM, a patrolman of the WYBPD, on routine patrol, observed a white Ford Focus travelling eastbound within the 1200 block of W. Market St. of the Borough of West York, being operating with faulty/malfunctioning head and tail lamps, and being occupied by only two persons.

The patrolman performed a traffic stop of this vehicle for violations of the PA Vehicle and PA Inspection codes, within the 1000 block of W. Market St.   The patrolman then observed the occupants attempting to conceal items within the passenger compartment and after approaching and interacting with the occupants detected a strong odor of what the patrolman suspected as marijuana.

The driver of this vehicle was identified as a Jonathan GONZALEZ, 26 Y.O.A. residing within the 13000 block of S. 48th St., Phoenix, AZ.  GONZALEZ was found to be operating without a valid driver’s license and since he was a non-resident he was taken into custody.

The passenger was identified as Timothy RIER JR., 23 Y.O.A. and residing within the 400 block of Roman Ct., Manchester Township, York, PA.   The patrolman discovered two (2) active arrest warrants for RIER and he was also taken into custody.

After observing drug paraphernalia within this vehicle and the odor of suspected marijuana, this vehicle was then impounded in order for the patrolman to obtain a search warrant from the duty magistrate.

On February 26, 2014 at 12:10 AM the search warrant was then executed and then completed on this impounded vehicle.  Patrolmen located a large cardboard box containing ten (10) large individually heat sealed bricks/packages of marijuana that were approximately 15” long, 10” wide and 5” thick.  Some of these packages were labeled as “Super Kush.”  The total amount of this marijuana weighed over ten pounds and with an approximate street resale value of $15,000 to $20,000.

WYBPD also recovered other drugs and paraphernalia from other areas of this vehicle.

Jonathan J. GONZALEZ was criminally charged for the following offenses;

1)      Possession with Intent to Deliver – felony

2)      Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance – Misdemeanor

3)      Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor

4)      Drivers Required to be Licensed – Summary Traffic

The vehicle, a white Ford Focus, is currently impounded, pending forfeiture proceedings.
