RETAIL THEFT - DOLLAR GENERAL STORE
12/29/2012 - 10:21:00 AM

12/29/12 @ 10:21 A. M. - WYBPD received a phone at the station call from an employee requesting police respond to the Dollar General Store, 1240 W. Market Street for a retail theft in progress.   Perpetrator was described as a black male, mid 20's, last seen wearing a camouflage jacket, dark jeans and black boots.   He allegedly stole merchandise from the Health and Beauty section of this store.

@ 10:23 WYBPD arrived and it was reported that the perpetrator had fled the store in an unknown direction.   Patrolmen then canvassed the vicinity checking for suspects matching the descriptions provided.   A subject possibly matching this description was reported to police by a security guard, to  have entered the Rite Aid.   This person was investigated and it was determined that he was not involved in this incident.

A "BOLO" describing this suspect was also aired via radio to other city and township police departments.

The store employee was advised to call 911 in the future to report crimes in progress, a police response time of even just one minute sooner would have probably yielded a successful and immediate apprehension in this crime.

Store surveillance footage was obtained and this investigation is ongoing.

**PLEASE DIAL 911 TO REPORT A CRIME IN PROGRESS**
